Winter Warmers - How to keep your pool gorgeous in winter.

Gone are the days when swimming was just for summer: with excellent heating options and beautifully-designed spaces that maximise the light, it’s possible to enjoy your pool all year round. Still, those of us more inclined to cosy up with a glass of red and a pair of fluffy slippers on cold afternoons might find it easy to forget about the needs of our pool in winter. To make sure your pool is happy and healthy all year round, we’ve got you covered with a few winter warmers.

Clean

When it comes to the lifespan of your pool it’s not so different from a plant or a pooch – you gotta keep that thing in check! Getting rid of leaves and junk from winter storms that make their way into your pool, and testing and balancing the water is something that’s important to do all year round.

Cover

Ever considered a cover? Winter is the time to try. It keeps your water clean if you’re actually using your pool through the colder months and protects it from possible damage or overflowing during the wilder weather. Ultimately this can mean there’s overall less time you need to spend working on balancing out the water and chemicals. Our friends at Aussie Undercover do some great covers – check them out here.

Pump

Yup, you want to keep that pool pump running all year long. This is an easy one to forget in shorter, darker days, but you want to make sure everything is moving in the right direction in your pool. It’s also really important to check the pump is working efficiently and hasn’t been backed up by any debris. You can reduce the time your pump runs during the day, generally to around 4 hours.

Swim

We get it – not everyone will be up for the winter swim. But if there’s one way to ensure your pool stays happy and health over the winter months then swimming is just the ticket. The more you know your pool, the more you know what it needs. And do we need to remind you about the incredible benefits of mineral water?
